Sources and breakdown

A source is one board plus the Numbers columns to read from it. The dashboard widget can hold several sources; the board view always has exactly one, the board it lives on.

Columns

• Budget column holds the planned amount for each item.
• Actual column holds what has been spent so far.
• Committed column is optional and holds amounts that are locked in but not yet spent. See committed spend.

Only Numbers columns are offered. When a source is added, the app guesses the columns from their titles: names containing budget, planned, plan, estimate, or forecast are proposed for Budget; actual, spent, spend, cost, expense, invoiced, or paid for Actual; committed, PO, purchase, contract, or pending for Committed. Correct the guess when your naming differs. The Budget and Actual pickers cannot point at the same column.

Group filter and label

Only some groups restricts a source to the selected groups. With one row per group, unselected groups disappear from the table. With one row per board, the board total covers only the selected groups.

Label replaces the board name in the table and in the multi-board prefix. Leave it empty to use the board name.

One row per group or per board

• Group gives one row per board group. Empty groups and groups whose items carry no numbers are skipped. When several boards are connected, each row is prefixed with the board label.
• Board gives one row per source. Use it for portfolio roll-ups where the totals per project matter more than the split inside them.

The Total line at the top always sums every row shown.

Title and currency

Title replaces the default heading in the widget. Currency only changes formatting; the app never converts amounts. Large values are shown compact in the tiles, for example 1.2M, and in full in the table.
